A project has a fixed start, an agreed end and a budget that will run out at some point. In between sit meetings, dependencies and decisions that someone has to request in good time. In our project management, that someone is us, from the brief to final sign-off.
Typical projects include rebuilding a website, introducing a CRM, developing a brand with several suppliers or setting up a base in Dubai. What they have in common is that many people contribute and none of them has the whole picture.
What you get out of it
You notice good project management because you spend less time chasing people. One contact knows where things stand and brings you options to choose from instead of open questions. You hear about delays early, because risks sit in a risk register from day one and we go through it every week.
From idea to sign-off
Clarify the brief
We start by writing a brief, or a full requirements specification for larger projects. It sets out what the project should deliver, what is explicitly out of scope and how you will judge the result at sign-off.
Plan
The brief becomes a project plan with work packages, milestones and dependencies. We define who delivers each package, including external agencies or freelancers.
Steer
For a mid-sized project, a short weekly meeting and a written status report are usually enough, with the risk register updated each time. If something drifts from the plan, we present you with options and their effect on schedule and effort.
Close
Sign-off is measured against the criteria in the brief. We then hand over documentation, logins and open items to whoever will own the result going forward. A short retrospective records what should go better next time.
Roles in the project
- Sponsor on your side, responsible for budget and goal and the final word in any conflict
- Project lead from us, in charge of the plan, coordination and reporting
- Subject owners from your team, who supply content and review interim results
- Suppliers such as developers, designers or translators, who deliver work packages
On work we deliver ourselves, such as web design with a CMS, project leadership is part of the package anyway. You can also bring us in as a neutral lead on projects where other suppliers do the build.
Where project management fits
Project management steers one piece of work with a fixed start and end. Which projects take priority is a question for strategy and growth, while ongoing workflows and roles belong under management and organisation.
Anyone who has just formed a company in Dubai, for instance through our free zone business setup, often starts several projects at once: website, brand, first hires. The website needs the company name from the licence, and business cards cannot go to print until the logo is approved. We put dependencies like these into the project plan. Legal and tax questions stay with your specialist advisers.
We run projects from Dubai for clients in the Emirates and in German-speaking Europe, with meetings by video or at our office in Meydan. Send us a short description of your project via our contact page, ideally with your target date.
